People may think that the best age for learning language starts from early stages. Yet,science offers a much more complex view of how our relationship with languages evolves over a lifetime – and there is much to encourage late beginners. Children are not learning the languages, they are acquiring it. They only imitating the languages by listen to it. Year by year, human not only acquiring the languages they will have longer attention spans and crucial skills like literacy that allow us to continually expand our vocabulary.

Children are good in acquiring the mother tongue language, as if it’s in Indonesia the mother tongue would be Bahasa. Why ? because children are good in recepting the language from the environtment, Antonella Sorace, a professor of developmental linguistics and director of the Bilingualism Matters Centre at the University of Edinburgh “Young children are very bad at explicit learning, because they don’t have the cognitive control and the attention and memory capabilities”, Sorace says. “Adults are much better at that. So that can be something that improves with age.”

It could be said that there is no exact age for people to learn language, because the human skills in learning the language always improve through years and years. Both adult and children have the urgency to survive in social community. The needs of communication, making friends, being accepted, force them to learn language more and more. In learning the language its needed a social motivation. The social motivation is dinamically change over time, so everyone could start to learn the language in every age and every time they want or need it.
